It's your truck...you can call it anything you want to, but...

If you have 4.50" bolt pattern wheels, do not tell the parts guy at some autoparts store you have an F150, because...

Not only are the wheels different, but so are the front brake pads, calipers, rotors, dust shields and related parts.

The rear brakes, drums and ALL corresponding internal parts are different (10" vs 11").

The front and rear springs are different, so are the shocks.

The frame is not the same, either.

some, but not all F-100s use the same identicle parts as the F-150. As far as GVWRs are concerned there is only 100Lbs difference between the Largest F-100 (5150) and the lightest F-150 (5250).

Longbed F-100s are more rare, as is shortbed F-150s in this time frame, 1980-1983, but both are out there, so to speak.
Thanks for the Info.I just looked,and I have the largest F100(5150).And also,I read somewhere that F100's have 4 rear leafs,while F150's have 5.

Okay this is one of the biggest things i've always wondered about. What should I tell the parts guy?I need to replace almost all of the suspension and braking systems(Only because I want this truck bulletproof).I have the 5 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern,as well as HD Power Brakes. So i'm assuming I should tell him I have an F150,but i'm not sure.Whenever I make a trip to the Auto parts store, should I bring the old part in with me to make sure I get the correct new part?Cause I highly doubt any of the quacks at my local parts store know there's a difference in the bolt patterns and brake sizes in my F100 from the 5 on 4-1/2 F100's....Thanks for all the help ya'll.

Nope It's better to tell them you have a F-100 with 11" brakes.

The secret is to tell them 11" brakes.

The F-150 does share brakes with your paticular F-100 though.

Why I said Some but not all F-100s share Identicle parts with the F-150.

Uhm, no - that may be true with the Mustang and Mark VII, but not with the fullsize cars (Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car). Additionally said fullsize cars had a factory towing package option, one of the features of which are 11" rear drums. So while Mustang wheels may not be a direct bolt-on without the proper (1" to 1.5" thick) spacer, the fullsize cars wheels may just work out fine.
