Does anyone have a recommendation on a good aftermarket am/fm/cd/sirius/gps unit that looks as good as the factory unit for 08 model? Pics?
Pioneer Avic Z2 is what I use and it has far more options then the factory one. The gps is a hard drive gps and you just upload new updates to the hard drive when the time comes. It does both xm and sirius and that was a big deal before they merge, now that is a moot point. It will play DVDs, CDs, and mp3 CDs. It also has a hard drive for you to store audio files, but it has to get the source files from an audio disc, not an mp3 disc, due to copyright issues. Pain in the ***, but that's the way all of these units operate. As such, I don't use that option much. I use the iPod hookup more(didn't think I would since it seemed like I was the last person not to have an iPod in this area).
That looks pretty nice in your truck. Did you have it professionally installed or was is plug 'n' play? I want a unit that doesn't require cutting into factory wiring.
i got my Kenwood unit from Amazon and saved a bundle. Bought the install kit from crutchfield and it came with the wiring harness and trim for the hole. Took about 30 minutes to install including running the lines for the sirius/xm and GPS antenna which i mounted on the front of the dash. The kenwood uses the Garmin GPS and it plays DVD/cd/mp3/USB formats. I downloaded a bunch of tunes on a thumbdrive and plugged it in to see what happens and it worked perfectly. I also bought the kenwood remote and recomend it highly as i am now able to change stations and adjust other common controls without taking my eyes off the road.
The kenwood also has an available ipod adapter, and a bluetooth setup for cell service.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you want pix.

I forgot that one. Avic Z2 also has a bluetooth module. How I could forget that I don't know. The newer radios have the thumbdrive though, mine is too old to have one.
I had mine installed. It would take less down time that way if I gone that route rather then trying to do it myself.
I forgot one other caveat...I don't want to loose my steering wheel radio control. I would imagine this will seriously limit my options...and I'll bet the Ford factory unit runs over $2k. Thanks.

You don't with mine. It requires one other module(but then again, they all would b/c each factory runs on a different frequency then the other and there is no way that a radio company could compensate for all of them), but it does retain the old factory controls.
