1999 F-150 4.6 4wd. Engine stalls going into D or R due to cc being locked. Keeping RPM's high when going into gear avoids stall but cc still engaged. Pulled valve body and had it cleaned at local tran shop and changed TCC solenoid ( old one was slightly intermittent) Tranny shifts good (150000 miles) Fluid and magnet was average. Cleaned all connecters i could find on tranny. Checked pins where TCC solenoid sits before I put solenoid back in and with key on it showed 12 V. I assume that opens the solenoid to allow fluid to circulate and open unlock converter. Where to go from here besides tranny shop? No unusal noise or shifting problems. Thanks upfront.
Info you, After doing the above mentioned, I let the truck sit about four days. The day before I was to take it to the tranny shopI went to move it and the tranny work as advertised. ( No converter lock-up at idle) I've driven it for a week now and it's shifts better than before and realy smooth shifts. Tranny man said it was probably a combo of a weak TCC solenoid and sludge in the tranny. Probably cleaned itself out after fluid got hot the last time I drove it before I parked it. Thanks for answering my thread and your good intention.
