My wife and I just purchased a new silver 4X4 Platinum F-150. It's AWESOME! The NAV package is great with Sirius Travel Link. We had a Grill Guard, Roll-n-Lock cover, spray in bed liner, and double headrest DVD/TV screens installed for the kidos.
We have had an expedition for 6 years and have really enjoyed it. One of the things we have noticed with the Pick-up is that there is more road noise than we are use to. At faster speeds or on bumps, it really doesn't bother us so much, but sometimes even going 20 mph down a residential street there is a bit of cab vib (road noise)... you feel every little crack and rock. The steering wheel DOES NOT vibrate and I would say the truck drives very well... it is really only a small vibration in the cab.
Is this normal? I would say with the stiff suspension, ridged frame, 4X4, and the 20 inch wheels, that it probably is normal, but I wanted to know if I should be concerned?
Sounds like to me that you just aren't use to diving a 4x4 TRUCK. You'll get use to the little rougher ride. But, don't it feel good when people "watch" you pass by on the road?
I don't really mind a rougher ride. It is just funny to have cab vibration between 0-20 MPH on a new flat road. Is everyone experiencing this? There is very little cab vib during excelleration... I usually feel it when coasting or maintaining the low speeds... again... going through residential.
AND YES... it does feel good to see people's faces.. the truck is awesome!
I'm guessing that with the 20's you will have the vibration and will just be something you'll get used too. I have the HD springs in my truck so I feel EVERY bump in the road but I am used to it now.
I am coming from an IS 350 and feel the 09 F 150 is a far superior ride. I have 20's but feel no vibrations whatsoever at any speed unless I have the Sony thumping.
Strange you get that vibration. MY truck is the same as yours and ours rides as smooth and quiter than our RR sport. I know that also has the harder suspsension but your platinum should ride very nice.

Please get out of the truck, set the bottle down and step to the curb.
i have the FX4 so i have stiffer springs and i got the 20 in wheels and i too experience some vibration around 40mph but i feel like the suspension on the front soaks up bumps much better than my car did.
We've enjoyed and have driven the tuck ALL weekend. The navigation/SYNC in this thing is SICK! We weren't really hot on the silver color, but we like it now. It stands out... nice and shinny and matches the Platinum feel.
My wife took the car in to the dealer to get detailed on Saturday since they didn't do it when we bought the car. She had the serice department check the low-speed vibration. They said it wasn't normal and think it is the drivetrain. They are going to test it and re-sync it today. I sure hope they have luck with it. Other than that, the truck is amazing!
Our kids love it too! We had the dual DVD headrest tvs installed and they can watch their own movies or eachothers. It will be a great system for long trips.
does the headrest tvs work off of the sony nav radio and if so do it work only when you are in park
No... each screen has its own DVD player in it. There is an audio cable from the driver seat screen to the aux input of the radio. That's the only connection to the car stereo. However, each screen can act independent or the same as each other. 3 inputs; 1) Own DVD Player 2) Watch what is on the other screen 3) Game port
