Throttle Position Sensor Replacement

The TPS in my 1996 is acting up periodically. I ordered a new one. The new one that is suppose to be for this truck turns out to be quite a bit different, about the only thing that matches the old one are the mounting screw holes.
In researching, the dealer tells me that the TPS I have is obsolete and the only way I can replace it is to purchase the entire throttle assembly for the cost of $450.00. Has anybody experienced this problem and are there any suggestions as to solving it next to buying the complete assembly?
Here is what I found on their site:

I've been surprised at how complex Dirtroit has made some of the systems in our once simple vehicles. At least we have a gathering place so we can swap ideas and get back on the road. I learned all about glow plugs here when I first bought Lurch, my F250. Nothing worse than having to go to the stealerships for service when you can fix things yourself.
How much did you pay and what store did you get it from ?
