1979 & 1978 Ford F-150 4x4

I am new to this site, and need some information on the afformentioned trucks. I have both, and need to put the rear driveshaft from the 78 on the 79. the yokes are different widths(the 78 is 3 1/4 the 79 is 3 5/8) I could solve the problem with new u-joints, but the yoke on the rearend of the 79 is bad. can I put the yokes from the 78 on the 79? the only other differences are that the 78 has a 400m with an automatic, and the 79 has a 351m with a 4 speed manual. The 79 is in much better shape and already has tags an isur., so I really need to drive the 79. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Any drive-line shop can supply you with a new yoke for the '79. The yokes will interchange but strength wise you'd be better off installing a new 79 yoke.
