Fuel delivery problems

Truck keeps cutting off on me. It's in the fuel system. Thought my filters were clogged, replaced them, then finally replaced the fuel pump (electric). Finally, inspected all wiring involved and redid all necessary connections. I have a pressure guage before the carb. Notice the pressure drops then it cuts off. Does it mostly when it nice and warm to hot outside. I'm almost at a loss until I noticed there is a piece of rubber hose the connects the hard line to the tank. I'm now wondering if the electric pump is causing enough of a vaccum to collapse the hose when it gets to warm. the truck is an '84, and I'm sure that's never been changed. that's the only part of the fuel system that is not new so far. I've also noticed the wires are getting hot, really hot in some cases I can't hold on to them for any length time. Which leads me to believe the pump is working harder than it should.

The truck will run fine down the road then finally cut out like it's out of gas. Pull over, pump gas frantically while cranking and it'll start back up, head down the road and it'll do it again.

Just wanted to run that by you guys before I go out and pull my bed off and run this thing down.

No, it's an '84 F-150 with an '89 EFI 302 that I plopped a carb on and put an aftermarket electric pump on it pushing 6 to 10psi or so it says on the paperwork. My guage confirms that while it's running.

Those little, rubber lines between the sending units & steel lines on my 1981 dry rotted and
crumbled. Piddly, little fuel pumps like this don't have anything near the power required to
collapse a rubber fuel line hose in good shape. Heck, I can't see it collapsing one in BAD
shape, either.
