After changing out my stock thermostst and stamped steel housing with the 203* with billet housing, I had some discoloring inside the pump via the hole and slimmy stuff up at the neck, anyways, What would be the most cost efficiant coolant filter system out there and does a great job??. i,M LEANING TOWARD dieselsites system plus can get the extra filters there, what do you all think, help a brother out, thanks...
Real happy with the Dieselsite filter, comes with everything needed to install and you can get filters at NAPA if you don't want to have to pay shipping. The NAPA filter part number is 4070 Hope this helps
Dan
I don't know about any of the others, but I couldn't be any happier with the one I got from dieselsite. It's a no brainer, easy install, no frills deal. It is one of the extremely few times that I've never had to stop in the middle of an install to run out and get a part that wasn't there or didn't work because of something I'd done before. I looked in to piecing my own kit together, but in the end I would have saved $20 if that. Was well worth it not to spend all day driving around getting it all together. I ordered 2 spare filters with it since I'd need them in the future anyway.
The only issue I had was removing that blasted plug under the thermostat housing. Mine was an inverted square plug, and it isn't 3/8 or 1/4 and I didn't have any square bits the correct size. Luckily I had an old junky short 3/8 extension laying around so I took it to the bench grinder and ground the end to the size of the plug, and viola.
I have the one from dieselsite as well, but I wasn't too crazy about the way it mounts. If you don't have the duel alternator upper hose, then it should be fine. If you do, then the filter will rub on the hose. I took mine off and will soon be placing it down on the frame.

TYMAR performance has a coolant filter system too. I got mine from dieselsite
Ken's right, Dale at Tymar has a very nice kit. It mounts to the side of the battery box/tray. The only reason I didn't get one from him is because I plan on relocating the driver's side battery someday and it wouldn't have worked.

I got the DS kit as I liked how and were it mounted. Install was straight forward and easy, but as Jeff said, with the upper radiator hose that wraps around the belt, the filter is really snug up against it.
After install, I wasn't impressed with how the mounting plate affected the hood shutting. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this with the DS kit, but the mounting bracket doesn't let the hood come down like it should because of the thickness. Now the driver's side sticks up a little bit and the pass side is lower due to the twisting.
You can barely see it, but there's a wear mark on left side of the radiator support bracket where the weatherstripping touches it during normal hood closure.
Driver's side corner raised due to the mounting bracket.
Pass side corner lower than normal.
This is why I'm going to relocate the filter someday. Knowing me, it could be tomorrow or next year. But it's going to get moved.

I don't have an explanation, but I do not experience the interference like you have with the mounting bracket.
Thanks for posting Ryan... those photos are enough to convince me to explore other mounting options. Back to the DIY method it looks like for me.
No problem Chase. There are plenty of other mounting options. I'm not a big fan of behind the bumper or all the way down on the framerail, so I'm not sure where I'd relocate it to yet. If I move the battery and angle the air filter up more towards the corner, then there will be room between that and the relay boxes by the brake booster.

Huh, that's interesting. I'm thinking about cutting the bracket down so that it fits inside the radiator mount instead of on top of it. Would have to do a little massaging towards the filter base, but it'd lower it 1/4" or so.
Hey Ryan, could u just adjust the little hood adjuster on the passnger side to raise the hood a little over there? just a thought
I tried and it didn't do much. And it's about out of threads. I might try to adjust a little more and also raise my hood latch up just a touch so when it's fully closed, it's not down as far.
