I am a newest owner of an 07 F-250 SD 4x4 it is my first Ford and my first Desiel, it has the 6.0 in it.
If anyone can help or point me to any posts that might shed some light on what I have below either way thank you in advance for any info on this thread.
Here is my problem.... After driving the truck and the engin heats up and I turn off the engin it will not start again for about 20-30 min, it does not have a problem starting first thing in the morning or if it has been parked in the lot at work, it only happens after it has been driven and has heated up.
I took it to the dealer here in town for a Multi-Point Inspecton and asked them to take a look at it but were they were limited in what could be causing the problem (as I was told by the service manager "This is only what we see MAY be the problem, we are not saying this IS the problem" what was seen by the tech was when the engin was hot it was not getting enough Internal Oil Pressure it would not go over 300 PSI.
That is all I know right now, has anyone heard of this before? any help would be a big help.
Just had the exact same problem last week with my 06 F250 6.0L. There was an oil pressure leak causing the issue in one of the seals. Truck would start up right away in the morning and then when I would go from job to job it would take 20 seconds to finally turn over. The diesel tech said it is common because first thing in the morning the oil is thicker because it is cool and then when warmed up the pressure is getting thru the seal. Truck needs 500psi of pressure to start and mine was around 370 when they tested it.
I hope I explained it right but needless to say it is fixed and running strong again. I had some delays on cold starts (3-5 seconds) that concerned me before but now it starts up quicker than ever. Best of all it was covered under the 100,000 engine parts warranty.
Thanks,
Can you tell me What parts were repaired or replaced, I have 119,000 + on mine and the warranty is out.
I am looking at a large bill for repairs but if I can find someone that can do it and I can get the parts it may save me some time and a little bit of money.
I have an 05 and just had to have this replaced. It is definitely an oil leak in the high pressure oil system and it is most likely the snap to connect fitting on the rear of the HPOP which sits in the valley of the engine. I am not sure of the exact part number but you could call a dealership and have them look it up just make sure when you are having them look it up that they find the revised part because ford has changed the part so that it won't have the same issue again.

Reason: incorrect info
One other thing that will be helpful to you is if you are stranded and it won't start is to get some brake parts cleaner, they make 2 different kinds one kind is flammable one isn't you need the flammable kind and you can spray a generous amount in the air intake and then crank it over and it will start... Just make sure you use brake parts cleaner not starting fluid as starting fluid can burn out your glow plugs and cause other problems.
