How much end play should I have on my axles?I have a dana 60 1/2 ton semi floating axles w/ a powerlock diff.Right now I have about .125".There is only two shims on the right axle and I am sure that taking these out will not be enough.Any suggestions?

0.125" inch endplay is too loose. Be sure to check the endplay with a dial indicator, as 0.125" may seem like a mile to the untrained eye. From memory, 0.010~0.015" seems about right. Be sure the thrust spacers are in position within the differential - the little roll-pin has a habit of breaking!

I am not sure what you mean by roll pin and where are the thrust washers located?I found another rearend and took it apart,it had the same amount of play as mine except when I took the right axle out(this is the one with the shims)the bearing fell apart and I had to pry the race out.Could this be why there is so much play in the axles. Also,I did check the end play with a dial indicator.Any info would be great.
