Head Casting Numbers Help
Head Casting Numbers Help
I'm trying to help my uncle find out what exactly these 2 sets of heads that he has really are. If anyone could help me out that would be great.
First set:
C1AE 3K25
C1AE 3A10
Second Set:
C9VE-A 9A2
C9VE-A 8_30
Sorry the _ we can't really figure out what letter or number that is, we can't seem to read it.
Any help would be great thanks so much.

C1AE's are lowriser FE heads. 3K25 is the date code of 63-Oct-25th and 3A10 is 63-Jan-10th. Stock heads for the most part but good otherwise. These were used on most lopo FE's until the C4AE-G's came along
C9VE-A's are 429-460 heads. 9A2 is 69-Jan-2nd date code and 8_30 is 68_30th. My guess if they are a matching pair 8M30 would be the right timeframe more or less. No idea if they are good or what.

He gave you definitive answers. 385 series (429,460) were first offered in 1968. If you ask about the C9's in the 385 forum I'm sure they will be able to tell you how they stack up performance wise with other castings.
