when i sometimes go to shift i can't seem to get it to go into gear. for example ill have the cluch out and in nutrel and just coasting and then when i put the cluch in and try to get it to go into frist it wont and it takes some force to get it to go into gear, also on occasion when i go to put it into reverse there is a grinding noise, and i do have the cluch in all the way, i don't know if the two are related just though id ask any help would be great thanks ryan
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-May-02 AT 11:21 AM (EST)]there are brass blocking rings in the synchronizer with clutching teeth on them to provide a smooth shift and they wear out and make it hard to shift into gears and they sometimes make the transmission jump out of gear. to repair those you will have to tear the tranny apart to get at them. There really isn't any kind of easy fix for them. sorry
Look on the bright side atleast it isn't a GM tranny they use paper blocking gears for their synchronizers in some transmissions
I'm sorry but that's unacceptable. Ford should come up with a fix for these shifting problems. My 2001 F-150 is having similar problems -- and the Ford Dealer told me there was nothing they could do about it.
THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE! This is an unsafe condition and you shouldn't have force gears into place while driving. (I had an incident today while driving where it scared the begeebies out of me!)
Let's force FORD to do a recall.
Tell me, do any of you know what federal angency we can alert to get the recall ball rolling?
