noise from left front

hey guys, just wondering what you guys thought about this. on sunday driving to go fishing i heard this funny noise coming from the left front wheel area, sounded like VERY light metal scraping, does it during braking as well but can only hear it at 45mph and up. i took the wheel off inspected the brakes and they look good so i took the caliper off to pull the hub (this is a 2wd truck BTW) and the nut that holds the whole hub on was LESS than finger tight, it took about 4 full rotations to tighten. I figured hey maybe that was somehow making the noise so i tightened everything back up and took it for a ride, but the noise came back within minutes. before i take it apart again and replace the bearings, do you guys have any experience with this?

I think you are ready for some bearings.

I'm thinkin' with the nut being that loose, your bearings probably rode on the races wrong and now they are shot.
