I'm borrowing my dad's ride. It's a 1990 bronco II. He told me it sputters at about 55-65 MPH & he wasn't kidding. It's like the motor quits for a split second. Any ideas what would cause this? I'd like to fix it for him in return for him loaning it to me. Thanks.
Yeah, Well I'm sure it could be any of those but it's in very good shape for a 1990 & the old man is very particular about his rides so I think I could rule out several of those. I was just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them before & had it be something that you wouldn'd expect.

I had it happen on my Mustang, and it ended up being a bad plug wire.As mentioned above,There simple places to start and could cause those symptoms.
I've had bad wires right out of the box before,it's very possible.
It could need a decent tune up. I'd be more suspect of a bad TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) Normally this will kick up if the truck/car has a lot of cruse control miles on it. Dead spot in the TPS will make the computer get bad info, and can do a number on how well it drives.
If you're good with a multi-meter? TPS is very easy to test.
Is it a manual or automatic? If you only notice it at that speed range, I'm almost willing to bet you need to pull diagnostic codes and run a vacuum test. I'm almost willing to bet that if the catalytic converter has never been changed on it, and the truck has over 100K miles on it....
Outside of that, pull diagnostic codes, do a wiggle test on all the engine wiring harness connectors, check ALL of your ground connections.....
