Earlier today i discovered that my drag link on my 71 f-100 had quite a bit of slack in it,i went to my local parts store and even prepriced it online, both of my sources said i would need to know the serial number "before m000001 or after m000009" what does this number mean and where is it located? the only thing that my parts guy and myself could figure is the shape of the draglink because there is a notable diffence between the two.i even went as far as crawling under the truck and measuring the thing, that was about the only way to be sure we ordered the right part.but any help on solving this mystery would be great ,thanks to all!

Both of my sources said I would need to know the serial number: beforeM00001 or FROMM00001 what does these numbers mean and where are they located?
