I am adding wheels and tires to my truck, 2005 F350 Dually. I pull about 9000lbs when using the truck. The Tires are larger then the OE size, I am thinking a programer may help w power due to the tires taking some gear out of the truck, as well as re-program the speedometer. I have a turbo back exhaust kit and no converter, other then that all stock. What are your suggestions or worries with certain products. Thanks Guys.
SCT w/ custom tunes all the way. As for recalibrating the speedometer, you will have to do that at the dealer or buy a TruSpeed module. Aftermarket tuner's don't do anything with the ABS module.
Or you could do it with the Ford Enhancement and the AutoEnginuity software. It'll reprogram the speedo for up to 40s. Plus you'll be able to read codes from 9 modules and pull a crap load of sensors as well.
Tex where do you purchase one of those and how much do they run?
Here you go. Order Online Well worth the investment just to be able to reprogram certain modules and pull all the codes that the dealership can pull. About 3 or 4 times of doing that and it'll pay for itself.
If you use the tuner to change the revs/mile based on the new tires, won't the speedometer be corrected ? at least, that's the way my simple mind thought it was
Would I be able to change the 'fuel tank size' reading from the stock 29 gallons to the 46 gallon TransferFlow tank I have now?
They do have a "Fuel Level Input", but I would have to hook it up to my truck to see if it would work on the 6.0s or not. It is under the Enhanced Powertrain module(which can be retrieved for the 6.0, but I don't know for that specific use or not can be retrieved at this time). It is in the Live Data format, however, I need to check if it's in the onboard testing tab as that is where you give the computer commands, everywhere else, you're either looking at sensor readings or results.
