I have torn down my C6 and am starting to reassemble it,
but the manual I have doesn't mention putting the forward
clutch wave spring back in?? Even though it tells you
to take it out when disassembling.
Where does the wave spring go in the forward clutch?
before or after the clutch plates are the only two options
I can see.
Hi Brian, Ken here, put in the lower pressure plate (curved side down), then the wave spring, then a steel plate, then fiber, steel etc. ending with the thick top pressure plate and snap ring.
What years did the C6 use wave springs in the Forward clutch? The few that I have seen use a Belleville style spring disk and install differently than you describe. I saw the breakdown for a 1980 and it appears to be the same as my 1969 C6 Forward clutch.
I got this from my 1969 Ford Truck Shop Manual. Note that what they call the piston is actually the seal & vise versa. The inner surface of the Disc Spring is dished toward the piston and makes contact with Steel Ring.
I will be removing this picture from my gallery in a few weeks to save space.
Kris,
Great picture.
I have a 1977 C6. Your picture looks just like mine,
except its missing the wavespring I took out of my mine.
I have both a wave spring and a belleville spring.
Brian
