timing chain flapping
92 ford 302 5.0
my timing chain is rattling i took the timing cover off there is no
timing chain damper or tensioner on hear is there supposed to be on this model
plus it has some play is that suppose to be like that it only has
78k miles on it

The silent chains become loose after a very short time, but continue to work for over 100,000 miles typically. Then they jump a tooth or two, resulting in terrible running but you can still limp home, with no damage.
