Well....it seems it really doesn't ever end. That, or I lack the will power (or desire ) to stop.
UPS delivered my new air filter today. The absolutely mammoth AFE 24-91042. I don't have any side by side pics yet, but pulling it out of the box it sure seems like it's a little bigger than a 6637, plus it has an open conical top.......big filter.
I also just ordered a Midwest transmission short throw shifter from Clay at Rifraff. He hasn't actually received his shipment yet so it will be a couple of weeks before I get that....but I'll keep y'all in the loop.
C'mon Scott. You've been around long enough to know threads like this aren't permitted without pics. It's almost like you're just toying with us.
I don't think I'd be interested in the short throw, but out of curiosity, I'd like to hear what you think. Any chances of trying to measure before and after distances between positions?
I'll get the pics when I swap the filter out after work in the a.m.....hence the "yet".
I've yet to read anything even remotely bad about the shifter, but I will be as comprehensive as I can with the install. I'll probably do a little article on it. I ordered it just for the sport...but I honestly think this thing will make it's money when towing heavy.
You'll love the filter Scott. Mine has paid for itself in the past year. go ahead and order up a recharge kit, and I highly recommend the aerosol filter oil.

Good deal! Thanks, will do.

Could be. I'm typically pretty easy on the tranny, but I'm sure I'll put her through her paces for a while.

Yep. The inlet neck is slightly longer on the AFE, but otherwise the same size. I also liked the fact that the rubber used by AFE is much more pliable than that of the 6637. It's easy to tell when you've got it tightened down enough.
I've got a few side by side pics, but whatever problems FTE seems to be having lately is affecting me.....it won't let me upload the pics. I'll keep messing with it.
