I agree, it is steep. But when you have pretty much zero service in your house and no home phone, ya don't have much choice...especially when you need to be available pretty much 24/7

I wonder how well it will work if you have weak signal in your area to begin with??
How well do your phones work outside??
I would see if you could return it if it doesn't work well, before dropping $250 on it..
Have you checked fleabay or craigslist to see if you can get one cheaper?

That's why I maintain a home phone. I don't want to depend on a cell phone for my primary service.
My 11 year old son who is slightly autistic can dial the home phone but has yet to master a cell phone. Don't know why as he can pretty much do anything else.
This way, due to my heart problems, he can call 911 or his step-mom if I have a problem.
But a cell phone? Still has me baffled!
