Can you give us a little more info? What kind of truck is this, is it a full front tilt with fenders or just the hood itself? What cinversion kit did you use, etc. etc?
Hi Julies....wow. I guess I used my 91 Ranger stats, although I did have a 98 F150.
I updated my info. I have a 1954 F100. I just installed the Flip Kit for the hood from Mike Chesser
I will have to do some serious thinking however, someone on this board did one that is mounted just forward of the cowl vent. He used a trunk lock from a car and welded it in.
About 20 years ago my brother made a tilt hood on hi 53 f100 and I believe he used a latch from a 58 ford sedan. I could find out next week when I see him. If interested E-mail me at :jimcollins@frontiernet.net:. jim
biggest issue is that with all the front opening hood kits I've seen, the hood slides back towards the cowl at the end of it's swing. most latches are designed for straight down movement.
So mount it horizontally, cut a vertical slot into your cowl, make an adjustable mount 'inside' the cowl and mount the catch horizontallyto it..mount the striker on the hood and your good to go...easier said than done right? LoL! just an idea..
another good idea...thanks Mertz...It actually does sound easy. My biggest fear is getting the latch working and forgetting to put the release mechanism inside the cab
