I am reading threads to find my problem and keep seeing references to check the computer. Where is the computer located on a 1989 F350 with a 5.8L engine?
It's in the drivers kick panel. There isn't much to look at on it, if you want to pull the codes you want to find the EEC test connector behind the airbox on the drivers inner fender, either attach a code reader to this or simply ground the STI wire and count the flashes on the check engine light while the key is in the run position.
Thanks for the info. Based on previous entries for "rough idle" and frame mount fuel pump running continuously the advice has been to disconnect the computer and check if the fuel pump stops running and if so replace the computer. I diisconnected the computer and the fuel pump continues to run. Is this possibly a pressure problem at this point?
I purchased a Ford OBD reader and started out with codes 14, 24 and 95. I replaced the EEC IV module and both the codes 14 and 24 are gone. The code 95 remains but I can start the engine and it will run for a short period. The fuel filter has been replaced and both tanks are full of fuel. I lost spark and replaced the coil. Now I am back to the continous running fuel pump, rough idle, no power and dies after a couple of minutes run time and won't restart until cool again.
I replaced the relay and now the pump doesn't run without the computer connected. It does run continuously with the computer connected and I still have fault code 95. When KOEO it sounds like there is an air/vacuum leak so I am checking all hoses and connections prior to trying to move forward from here. Thanks for all of the help!
