only true in racing
Formula one race cars use a 2.4 liter V8 engine, producing anywhere from 780-900 horsepower
All this on regular gasoline, a little bit higher octane, but it's gasoline that you COULD use for any car, if you wanna pay 14 dollars a gallon
that's the only time i've ever encountered a small engine producing more power than a large engine haha

I hate to say it but you guys should do some homework before flaming newer small displacement engines.

Quite a few of them easily make more hp and torque than our V8's using computers, variable valve timing, multiple valves per cylinder, etc.

A good friend of mine has a VW motor that puts out nearly 500hp to the front wheels when he is not breaking axles and CV joints.

Engine management and air flow in and out combined with RPM's = insane amounts of power.

I don't care for import "ricer" cars, but I respect anyone that can mod a motor to make serious horse power no matter who's badge is on the hood.

Agreed, nothing wrong with people who have a clue. But I live on a state highway about a 1/4 from a traffic light and I am truly sick 4-door Honda/Toyota whatevers with wings, stickers and fart pipes going by my house at redline. Gotta wonder if it they could crack into the 18's in the quarter mile; complete idiots! Pretty funny out accelerating them while pulling a trailer.

I also think its cool the power that some one can make out of the little ricers. They make very nice power, but still get good gas mileage is the part thats not fair.
I think they have a bad rep because most ricers are owned buy teens who do not know how to make good choices While driving.

Hitman I put the new avatar up and then baue called up and I'm going to be build his Honda engine up when he is gone at basic training.

eh, i still don't think it's astonishing unless you can get 780-900 horsepower out of a 2.4 liter V8 running at 19,000rpm
and yes, there are a select few people who know what they are doing with their engines, but when the teens how saw fast and furious too many times, go out and buy a fram air hog filter, fart can exhaust, and a WING for a FRONT WHEEL DRIVE car, along with stickers to show all the electronics and what not they have put into it, (a great checklist for a thief by the way haha)
then it just gets annoying
there is no better sound than a large displacement V8 with dual exhaust.

if one of them can get a hold of the Formula one engine, (same displacement, 4 more cylinders) then maybe I will respect them a bit more.
until then, I will continue to smoke my tires next to them
(don't drive with your windows down if your face lines up with someones exhaust pipe )

I agree that the lil rice burners are nice and can put out some power, I used to have a GST Eclipse that was pushing about 350 hp in its prime. But that came with a whole lot of extra parts that cost alot of extra cash. If you were to put all that stuf into a v-8 it would put the lil 4 banger to shame.

I got in one of those motor size arguments and they were talking about someone boring and stroking this little Honda to 200 cubes, then I said well he's got a long way to go cuz I've got a 445 (7.3 IDI) hiding under my hood.
