Final tire question
Also, I like the wider tire look and someone was telling me something about backspacing I believe to make it stick out a little bit more. How does that work? If backspacing is correct then I will go research it a little bit.
And my friend has a dodge ram and he has 35"s on it and the tires look sooo much larger than these. It might be because the lift makes them look bigger? I am not sure.
Thanks, and sorry for so many questions, this should be my last one about tires!
P.S. Where is the cheapest place to get rims? (I am just making sure, but the rim for that tire should be 17" and the rim width should be 7-9", right?
Backspacing refers to how far back the bolting plate on the rim is. Careful if you get too much backspacing you'll end up with one of those funny looking Mexican Chollo curb rubbers.
If you want a wider looking tire then you are gonna want a 285 or a 295 or a 305 (the first number refers to width in MM), but the larger the first number the taller the tire will be overall unless you lower the second number. Or if you want the same width but taller then you want a 265/75 or 80 or 85.
Jegs has pretty good prices on rims, so does Discount Tire.
Also, how is that pricing wise?
Those would cross reference to a 33 x 12.50 old measurement.
Oh, on your quest for new rims, any rims off of the the pre 99 Fords will work, all of the Dodge 8 lugs will work, and some of the Cheby's will work, some of the older ones had a smaller center hole. Any of the aftermarket 8 lugs will work UNLESS its for the 99+ Fords which have a metric bolt pattern.
