Ot: Memorial day
It's Memorial Day weekend. A weekend of early summer fun. This weekend typically marks the start of a season of barbeques, and trips to the lake, or ocean. However, this weekend is also the weekend that we pay our respects to the millions of men, women, children, and animals, that have died in the name of freedom. So, as you take the boat out, or light the charcoal, don't forget why. Why you have the right to speak your mind, or flame a person on the net. Why you have the right to carry your rifle in the back window of your pick up. Why you have the right to tell the police "No" if they pull you over and want to search your car. No other nation on Earth enjoys the freedoms that we take for granted. We too often forget why we enjoy these freedoms. The cost that has been paid for our independance. The blood that has been spilled on many battle fields, in the name of freedom. We also seem to forget, that Memorial Day is no just to honor the fallen. It is a day to honor all that have given in the name of freedom. As you pull into the park at the lake, look around. Take a good hard look around, and say thank you. Thank you for your sacrifice. If you have a someone you want to remember, that you know has laid their life upon the alter of freeedom, don't be ashamed, or embarassed, please add it their names to the thread.
THANK YOU: everyone that has laid down their lives so that my family can live in America.....The land of the free, because of the sacrifices of the brave. Thank you to all the horses, and birds, and dogs, and other animals that have been used and killed on the battle field, you know not the glory of your sacrifice, but you do it anyway. As I fly my flag this weekend, I fly it for you. I play my patriotic American cd's so that all the people in the neighborhood can hear it, and I play it for you.

A thank you to all that have served, both past and present. When you see a person at Wal-Mart or in town wearing a hat wiht some sort of Military insignia on it, please take the time to personally thank him for his service. I recently came acorss a gent, WWII on his hat. Engaged a conversation with him. He was on a B-17, B-24 crew. It does not get better than that.

I know that I am thankful for the sacrifices of so many brave people, and even the animals, that laid their lives down upon the alter of freedom, for such an ungrateful, self involved society, undeserving of their heroism and bravery. I am proud to call my self an American, knowing that only here do we have the rights, and freedoms so few are able able to experience, and it only because of the millions that have died for it.
