I'm ALWAYS hearing the seductive call of the Darkside. Beconing me toward the rocks of the stormy sea. The Darkside calls... but the Force is strong with this one.
Stay the course, stay true BLUE.
(Merc is Ford.... Don't know about the triple deuce though.
Terry,
I think the darkside is lurking around Steve. It is going to creep up on him. I keep offering to let him drive my 55 with a IFS but he keeps resisting. I think he's afraid of what might happen. Steve IM or email the yard I work at part time has a couple of 72's. That rear end will bolt right in. Later dude

Fergusonic, I checked out your gallery and I have a couple of questions. First, was the bed metal thick enough to box the frame? And, whose MII kit did you use for the front suspension?
I think the suede thing is pretty cool. I am looking at either a satin black or grey primer finish for my truck. I went to the nostalgia drags recently and saw a car done that way. Very nice. He used a black finish coat with a satin clear.

The bedside material is not thick enough to box the frame....frame boxing material should be maybe 3 times as thick.
The MII I used is a TCI unit purchased from CPP. I have had a Volare IFS and a Camaro IFS on past trucks. In comparison: The MII is the best looking unit but it is very quick and one must be diligent at road speed. The Volare handled very nicely but I had to move my darkside engine to the passenger side 1 1/2" to clear the PS. The Camaro handled nicely also but was quite bulky in appearance.
is there a problem with PATINA ??? my truck has an earned patina ! it's been used abused , and beaten on for a long time including by me . i like it's look and outside of getting rid of the rust and the dent in the hood , i am seriosly considering leaving it as is . im not scared of driving it nor if so inclined using it .. i ran into one of the fe's in the black hole with the right front and scratched it , you can see how upset i am . as far as flat , the flat black has become old but i too like the look , and it's your truck anyway . we can give you our opinions but they don't mean sh-- in the long run as it is yours and you are the one driving it .
Fergusonicford, Looking at your gallery again, I see what I thought was a bedside was a close-up of the frame section. I didn't think it was thick enough, but I had not compared gauges.
Oh............................yes, I like the satin look in black. If I didn't already own 4 black vehicles, I would have considered it. Personally, mine will be a high gloss red.
I did my last truck (an O/T 46 Hudson) with single stage arcylic enamel and a flattening agent. Turned out nice, and was easy to touch up.
went from this lo maintenance finish
