Hi guys i'm new to the list i have a 1994 f350 with 7.3 powerstroke. I'm interested in the IDM mod but i'm not very comfortable about doing it myself, is they're any one in Ontario Canada who would like to this for me?
If you aren't comfortable with the soldering you can probably get a electronics repair shop to do it for you. Just crack open the case and get the new resistor and show them where to put it in.
I did mine and it was actually quite easy. Just be patient and go slow...

+1
i would bet that paying a shop to do it for you would still be cheaper than buying a modded one.
i also did mine not to long ago, i will say that my soldering iron was way to "heavy duty" for the job....a nice small fine point iron would be very helpful.
Like Brownie and Zookie said just take your time. The hardest part is getting all the silicone sealer off to separate the cover. I took a hair dryer on medium setting to soften the silicone made a little easier and like Zookie said a small pencil type solder iron works best. Good luck. If you still have trouble pm me and we will discuss it.
Exactly what the other two said... just be careful taking the cover off so it doesn't bend of warp.
If you can get a friend to help it will be even easier. Easiest way I've seen it to take two pencil soldering irons and heat up both sides of the old resistor while a friend pulls it out with pliers.
Some people said they didn't need to add any solder at all to put the new one in. I had to add just a little bit, just use some good small diameter solder and you should be fine. The hardest part was taking the old resistor out.
