Exclamation Removing brake rotor brackets.

Anyone have any tips for removing the 2 bolts that holds the caliper bracket to the hub assembly? I've let them soak in super penetrant, pulled on a ratchet with every ounce of strength I have, and tried an impact gun w/ no luck. It's like these things are welded.

Longer breaker bar and lay in a position that will give you the right leverage. Leverage is the key. If you're using a regular ratchet, you'll need something longer to break them loose. I've discovered putting your foot on a breaker bar doesn't work as well as laying under the truck with a breaker bar. I'd use something at least 24" long.

I never had that much trouble taking them off before. Maybe try heating up the braket where the treads are. If your bolts are that much of a PITA to remove, you will probably need new slide pins as well for the caliper.

Yes. You have to put some heat on the part where bolts screw into. Ford uses some bad*ss lock tite that does not let go. Not much heat just enough to make it break lose. A small propane type that is used in plumbing will work. Also, the lock tite has memory and will bond again. Remember to remove slide pins first they burst into flames if you leave them in. Good luck
