Extremely black oil?

im nto sure when the last time the last owner had changed the oil, because it was VERY black then, i changed out the oil and it still looked black, and im assuming because of the last oil.

what would i need to do to

1: Confirm its not burning the oil?
2: Get all that black crap out of there.

You could change it again but I'd probably wait 5-600 miles then maybe 1000 then every 3k

I recommend the following.

Change the oil and filter. Run it about 500 miles, then change the oil and filter again.

Change the oil and filter when it starts to turn black again, or at 3000 miles, whichever comes first, for a couple of changes. This will help clean the engine.

Then change the oil every 3000 or so miles.

You could use some marvel mystery oil. One quart in place of the 6 quarts for a total of 5 quarts oil, one quart marvel mystery. This will help clean the engine faster.

I do not recomend using one of those motor flushes. This will most likely plug up your oil pump sump screen.

hope this helps.
