hi i need a little help. i have 2 trucks one is a 1975 ford f 250 and the other is a 1967 f 100. i wanted to put the 360 big block from my 75 f 250 in my smaller 67 f 100. so i pulled the engine out of the 75 f 250 and that's when i seen it was an odd truck engine. its what they call a front sump i think? witch means the deep part of the oil pan is in the front part of the engine and the cross member in my 67 f 100 isn't as deep as the cross member in the 75 f 250. so when i went to put the engine in my 67 the oil pan was sitting on the cross member of the truck about 1" or 2" to high. so what i need help on is can i just put a rear sump oil pan in it or will the sump not work? or is there a smaller oil pan i have to get. i know its the right motor mounts so it can be that. it has to be the oil pan. any thoughts might help thanks for taking a look
A FE engine 352/360/390 + a few more, should be a direct fit in both chassis. The engine bays are basically unchanged between those years. We are talking 2wd for both trucks, right??
What engine was in your 67 ? In 67 your choices were 240 and 300 sixes and a 352 V8. If it had a small block then it was changed over at some point in it's life. Small block stands are different and sit lower than the stands for sixes and FE V8's. 240, 300, 352, 360 and 390 all used the same stands from 67 thru 79. The only exceptions were the trucks built after the FE engines were dropped at the end of 76 and the left stand is different for manual or power steering. All of the 352,360 and 390 engines installed in 67 thru 76 2 wd trucks had front sump pans. If the stands are wrong grab the ones out of the F250 and bolt them in.
yes sir they are both 2wd trucks. i got the 75 from an old cowboy from oklahoma and he told me that was a special engine. but he was real good at telling a story too. so i didnt really think there was anything special about the engine. but thanks for trying to help this is a great website for people like me who love working on there own stuff but never went to school for it.
well i got the 67 from a redneck buddy here in mississippi. and he was running some engine from the 80s in it. i think it was a small block but im not sure. after i pulled the engines out of both trucks i took a real good long look at the frame mounts and they looked the same. but i have had enough people tell me they think that might be whats going on so an going to pull both the frame mounts on both trucks just to make sure that there the same. i would like to take this time to thank everyone for trying to help me with this damn truck lol you have to love them lol and i hope everyone has a great weekend
ok guys i feel like a real dumb a$$. its the frame mounts there just that much bigger that everything should work. i just pulled the engine back out and there about ohh 1" 1/2 to 2" bigger. thank all of you guys for your help and when i run in to trouble and im sure i will ill be back. ill let you guys know how it worked out. thanks again
