timing help

I have a ’94 F150 4X4 with a 302. I know that the timing should be 10 deg advanced. My question is do I need a computer to set the timing? I can’t find any timing marks and there is too much stuff in the way to even see the timing cover in order to set it.

You need a timing light . You can mark the balancer with red paint at 10 deg before so its easyer to see . Lew

No, but you do need to unplug the "spout" pill. It's over by the drivers side hood hinge. Grey square plug, about the size of your thumbnail, unplug it set the timing, plug back in.

I used a timing light with dial to adjust mine. There is one line/groove on the balancer(TDC).

Mine is '95 F150 302.

I used white chaulk/broken piece of drywall ground into the markings to get the contrast needed on the balancer to see the marks with the timing light. It was too hard to see the marks with the strobe light without something to contrast the balancer metal, and markings.

I started the engine, crawled under the truck with a wire brush mounted to my electric drill, and cleaned the balancer off real good. Then I used a bit of white-out tape to mark what I was looking for.
