It could be the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) on top of the rear diff. Try cleaning it (one bolt to remove, wipe off the fuzz) and if that doesn't help, replace it (about $15). If the light is still on, you'll probably need codes read to see what the problem is.

I would do as Chase said, check the VSS sensor on the rear end. NAPA call it the ABS sensor. Cheap fix. If that is not the problem, get the codes read and we can go from there.

Ford dealer or any decent mechanic. The generic code readers that places like Autozone will scan your truck with for free won't work if you have a diesel.

Be ready to pay about $90 - $100 for a scan. They aren't as nice as the Part Stores...at least not the ones I have gone to. Call em up to save a trip. Or also check a local performance shop.
