More Garage Space
OK, the time nears. Me and the Mrs are looking for a retirement home. We have researched property all over the country and decided for the time being to concentrate on Oregon, Nevada and Northern CA. We can check these areas our first because they are relatively close to Sacramento. If they don't pan out, then we will widen our search to AZ, TX, UT, and Idaho.
We would like a piece of ground about 1-2 acres with a small house. But, the most important part is it has to have a large garage or at least the potential for building one. I'm talkin' 6-car size or bigger. We also need a paved road so that we don't tear up the new paint job.
We are leaving on vacation next week to scout out locations.
Does anybody have a lead on any great deals? Country living is great as long as we are within about ten miles of town. Our price range is 200-300K. Thanks for your input, Jag

Yep, I wouldn’t trade if for anything, in spite of over $ 5000.00 this spring (F1 on temp hold) to replace the water (your well etc) and sewer system (your pumping etc). When it’s yours, there is no City crew to call for help.

Take a look at the Texas Hill Country near Austin and San Antonio. Especially the western counties like Kerr, Real, Gillespee and Bandera (where I have propertry). There are a lot of neat little towns that are close enough to big cities for medical and other needs. There's also a lot of great entertainment, tons of nature, wineries, arts and the area is very retirement friendly. San Antonio the 8th largest city in the US, is always named one of the best cities to live and retire in, or near.

Finally Texas does not have a state income tax....
And did I mention there are more Trucks in Texas then any other state?

Hey, I thought OK was already on the list? I do agree with Texas hill country, my wife would move tomorrow. Something to do with the two newest grandkids being there. I like Austin and the surrounding country, but it is just too far from so many places I like to go. We are fairly centrally located here in Tulsa. Joe

I have a cousin who has lived in Bend for over 18 years and runs an outdoor/adventure tour company. He loves it, but the area has been growing rapidly, so the town you fall in love with this year will not be the town you find yourself in 10-15 years from now.
Even so, it seems pretty nice up there.
