1979 Ford 302 with a carb

Question is, i have a fuel return line that is just sitting there, where the heck does it connect to?

Under the hood? Only thing I can think of offhand is the vapor canister mounted on top of the driver's side inner fender by the ignition module. More info needed. What is it still connected to?

Its connected to a Purge Control Valve, i think the truck had a 300 straight 6 before i bought it.

The valve has three lines that go to nothing and a fuel return line. Nothing else goes into the valve.

(I described this in a post below this one)

There are no fuel return lines on a '79.

What you described is an emissions device. One end hooks up to the top of the gas tank. The other end hooks up to a charcoal canister below the battery. This is used to vent filtered vapors.

My guess someone tossed the charcoal canister. Now they are venting to open air. Does the truck smell like a gas station?
