Here is my problem. I have a 79 F150 and a 78 Bronco. Both have 9 inch rear ends. I wanted lower gears in the F150 so I used the ones out of my Bronco. They are 4.10 gears and stronger axles. AFter I got it all together I have a growling noise when I give it gas. But it doesn't do it when I let off the gas. What is causing this and how do I fix it? Thanks for your time.
Did you check the R&P backlash and properly paint the gears to check the wear pattern after (I assume) you swapped the gears? If not, get ready for your R&P to last about another 1000 miles before grenading on you. :-X23
