Another Shocking Tread!

I always read the post about shocks. So I have tried many brands. In fact I had so many old shocks I didnt no what to do with them since you can't throw them in the trash anymore.

The last shocks I tried where the 5150 Bilsteins. Not to impressd with them.
But they do look cool!

So while I was surfing the net I came upon this Australian poll about shocks.

A must to check out if looking for more shock info!

Having paddled around in more than a couple of four-wheeling communities through the years, I am not that surprised that OME (Old Man Emu, for the uninitiated) came out on top especially considering that both the forum & that brand are Australian.

I did expect a little better showing from Rancho though.

Deluxe05, that poll shows Rancho at number 2

Funny, many in there mention Rancho's "week rebound control" and yet that's what I like about them. They put the wheel back on the ground quicker.

I have to agree with some of the comments about Ranchos lack rebound control.
My 95 Bronco bucks in the rear just like a Bronco when I hit the whoops. I tried the Rancho adjustables set to firm but got the same results on the whoops.

It was more of a comment aimed at the facts that OME is showing twice as many users, and that it is tied for second place with OEM/stock shocks. For being a forum that caters towards the four wheelers, I would have expected Rancho to hold a stronger 2nd place position, as Rancho does hold a pretty good, international reputation.

Back when I had a '78 Toyota Land Cruiser (FJ40), I seriously wanted a set of OME shocks, but I never was brave enough to pull the trigger, as they were relatively pricey. I did run a set of Skyjackers (that came with the lift that I installed on it), and ended up replacing them with Rancho R9000s for the adjustable firmness. The latter did help with ride quality a fair amount...if they were on the right setting for what I was doing.
