97 Explorer Lower Intake Removal ?

97 Explorer Lower Intake Removal ?
Hi everyone...hopefully someone can assist here.
I have a blown intake gasket (I think and I HOPE is all) and I have torn down the engine to the lower intake. It is a 302 by the way....
Ok, I have removed all of the intake bolts and it is loose, except there is a coolant hose connecting into the manifold that for the life of me, I cannot remove. And I need to remove it so I can get the lower intake out.
Does anyone know exactly what size wrench is supposed to be used? 1" is just slightly too big, and 15/16" is too small. I tried metric 25mm and 26mm to small and 27mm is too big. I am about to try a vice grip, but there really isn't enough room and I don't want to mess up the bolt
Or...is there a trick to disconnecting this that I am missing?
This is where the temp sensor plugs into.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
