Question What's it worth?

Hey all, was wondering what a D3 105 block is worth? It's at 030. Good shape, no rust, doesnt need decked. Just trying not to get hustled or to hustle anybody.

It all just depends on the availability in your area. They are hard to find, if not impossible, in some parts. While in others, they're everywhere. I just gave $100 for a complete 360, carb-pan with a D3 105 block. I knew one yard that had dozens of mid-70 Fords; but, when the scrap prices went thru the roof, everything was crushed.
Just remember, there is no guarantee that a 105 block will bore out any further than most blocks due to core shift. I bought mine hoping for +.080 bore, but at the same time it is nice having another set heads and all the small stuff.

well I'll put it this way, if it can go to 080 how much more would it be worth than one that cannot? The only yard around here that has any 360/390 blocks sells them for 300, no guarantee.

The only way to know if a 105 block can safely handle an +0.080 is to have it sonic tested. To do that, you'd have to buy first. Yes you can do the drill bit test (search), but bad core shift can void that test.
Honestly, the best thing I like about the 105 block is they offer an excellent foundation for a very strong 390-bore based stroker. Most will have the extra main webbing like the CJ/service blocks, and the extra meat in the bores means you can run them a bit harder than a normal +0.030/0.060 block.

Lol it's my old block. And I would like to know how much more it'd be worth if it could go 080 over to determine wether or not I would spend the $ to sonic test it. Thanks

I guess I missed something. I thought you were buying.

I'd say if people are willing to buy the yard blocks for $300, then I dont see why they wouldnt be willing to pay more for a block guaranteed to whatever bore a sonic map will show. Then again, make sure you'll have interested buyers who want the extra bore if available.
