Engine Options...?

i have an inline 6 from a 78 f-250 and a 302 from a 79 F-100. Would I be able to put the 302 to the 4 spd tranny of the inline 6?

thanx for your help

Luke

Yes, it has the same bolt pattern. I'm not positive, but I think you will need a flywheel for a 302 because the 300 and 302 have different crankshaft imbalances (zero for the 300, 28oz for the older 302s). Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Make sure you get the proper 302 Flywheel. Make sure you have one made for a truck and not a mustang (larger diameter bellhousing in truck) Make sure you have the proper flywheel for the year of your 302. The 5.0L 82 and up 302s have a significantly different balance counter-weight on them (28oz older, 50oz newer). 302s are externally balanced and depend on the flywheel/flexplate counterweighting to balance the engine. Not sure which engine is going in which truck, but transfer the engine perches along with the engine as the two differ. Also transfer the radiator
