I have a 83 351W TFI IV and a VV7200 carb set up in a bronco. I Replaced the carb with a Holley 600cfm 4bb and the intake with an Elderbrock performer. 2 issues here, 1 which was present before the swap being the tach and rpm's drop of suddenly about 2000 rpms at various times but mostly when the engine is hot. The second being I'm not sure what the idle should be set at, I can either get a rough Idle in park and smooth in drive or rough idle in drive and smooth in park. Anyone have suggestions? I was thinking maybe that stupid TFI IV
There is no vac line on the distributor and to adjust the idle I turning the curb idle adjustment screw. Do you know what the idle should be while its in Park?
Well I think the engine vibration is really just **** motor mounts. The timing has got to be off because if doesn't start right away then it turns over a few 20 times to start, also it will back fire sometimes if I nail while its in park. I have an 84 for parts that has a complete vac assisted duraspark on it I think I'll make the swap tomorrow. Anyone know of any issues with this swap?
Should be exactly what you need. 10 degrees BTDC should be a good place to set it with no vacuum. Ford's feedback carburetors were not the best setup, I am currently fighting with an 86 F-150 6cyl with the YFA feedback. It wants to run real lean.
