There's a glob of oil which appears to be slung and dried onto my lower radiator hose underneath the harmonic balance. I can see evidence of some soot on the fan up front. What's up front to leak?
The oil pan where it meets up with the bell housing for the tranny is wet. I've heard that oil pan seal jobs on these are a real PITA and I really hope it's not the seal. Any ideas?
The truck does not appear to be using oil, so the leaks aren't bad, but should probably be attended to accordingly.
I doubt it's a pan seal. Leaks usually come from the top side of the engine and run down the back. Clean everything up with Simple Green and water, watch to see what comes back.
All right. Can I hit this thing with a pressure washer? Because I did the Simple Green and garden hose rinse and it didn't even put a dent in the grime.
Pressure washer can put water where you don't want it. Some do it and I'm sure it's ok, just be carefull. I have never had problems with Simple Green. I use it full strength on a warm. not hot, engine, let is soak for a few minutes. Grime comes off with household pressure. Be sure to cover open filters, powersteering cap and alternator. If you use the pressure, be careful around the wiring harness cluster around the master cyl.
