Just got back from Rowan's Ravine provincial park, it rained and was cold Thursday night when we got there but Saturday and Sunday was really nice. Escape pulled the boat really good, boat ran good. Last weekend it was idling a little rough but was working much better this weekend except the trim quit going up, works down but not up now, maybe it's the switch.
On the way home it was a little funny, I was going up Lumsden hill toward Regina and saw a new Chevy 1/2 ton(4X4 crew) pulling a 16-17' fishing boat, at the most it would be 2500-3000lbs, pull out to pass me. I'm pulling a 8500lbs camper with the 5.4l, had the pedal about 1/2 way down doing 80klm(it will hold 100klm if I have it floored) and I pulled away form the Chevy a little going up the hill.
that boat looks real sweet there Marlon!!! i spent the last day of the weekend cleaning... got some more pics. 10hrs or riding, 6 hrs of cleaning. about 30$ in fuel for the derby, about 15$ worth of car wash so far and i haven't touched momma's quad yet...
Very nice boat Marlon! Love hearing the stories of the Chev trying to out pull a Ford!
Sounds like a fun derby Sherm, especially if there is that much cleaning to do it usually means it was a good time!
i seen a F350/6.4 comming in in my rearview mirror on the way to the derby. he was towing a 24'x8' enclosed trailer with 7 bikes in it... i tried to keep up with him as he was passing me but he just smiled and waved... i don't feel bad at all...
Yours has the V6 in it right Prep. Mine has the four banger. Good on fuel though, had it out for around six hour and still have close to 3/4 of a tank left.
Yeah mine has the v6, but I think my boat would be alot heavier then yours too, requiring more power then a guy thinks!
I originally wanted a 17 foot boat with a 5 liter in there, but they dont make em that small anymore. Smallest i could get was a 20-21 foot, and that boat was alot deeper and wider then my boat too.
Ya, I know what you mean about the wieght, with five adults in the boat it was quite sluggish but with only two it performs well. I wieghed the boat at a truck scale to see if the Escapr could pull it and it is only 2600lbs with trailer and full of fuel.
I think that the 17-18 foot is a good size for here in Saskatchewan, any bigger and it's hard to get into some lakes.
Ours is a 19 foor and its got a deep hull, so we do have to be a little more careful which lakes we go to. We did have it out on jackfish, and its a pretty shallow lake.
