I have an 01 Excursion with tons of banks stuff. I would like it to roll coal. Any suggestions? Also looking at street performance injectors from ATS. What all would need to be upgraded to run these(62hp)?
Agreed!! Also if you get the injectors you will need live tuning and jody can help you with that if you get the dp over the banks. Im also guessing once you get the dp you prob will put the injectors on the back burner. The DP is quite a step up from the Banks.
Welcome to FTE. If you want to roll coal Banks is not the way to go. His claim to fame is no black smoke. Do as Glenn had suggested and sell the Banks stuff and get your self a custom tuner with a smoke tune.
Don't let these guys fool you. Banks has the best ADVERTISING in the business. You can look in any auto magazine and fine them.
You need to let us know what mods you have so we can help you a little more. Forget the injectors for now, and get the basics done. Look around at peoples sigs on here to see what is popular.
banks is made not to blow smoke. a buddy of mine has a cummins with alot of banks stuff on it and he wants it to blow smoke. he called banks and they said they engineer their products not to blow smoke.

I'll be honest. I like rolling smoke as much as the next guy when I'm in my race tune or something, but for everyday normal driving, I would really like to be as smoke free as possible.
In fact, I need to drop Jody an email asking if he can clean up my econo tunes a little. They produce a tad more smoke than I like during tip in, at freeway speeds.
Thanks guys I will look into your suggestions. Budget is a little tight, wasted alot of my tunning money on an idm that just crapped out. Thank you though. Where is a good site to find all this fun stuff?
Welcome to FTE. Tell us what state you live in, and what type of banks stuff you've got. Also tell us about what intake, exhaust, gauges, and any other mods you've done so far, and we'll see if we can't point you in the right direction.

Check out DP Tuner. He is a sponsor on this site.If you want smoke he can fix you up.
Well, its my first diesel truck to start with bought it in feb. 09. It's an 01 Excursion 7.3 (but you knew that). The mods I have done so far are as follows. Banks everything-turbo wheel, big head waste gate,4" exhaust turbo back, intercooler, trans comander, six gun programer, and ecm chip 120hp I believe. Should be everything. Just doesn't seem as powerful as it should be, to me anyway. I would really hate to start over but... ya know money=power.
DP Tuner, Power Hungry Performance, and Total Diesel Performance can all get you better performance than what the Banks stuff will get you. You should also look into some trans mods (either a Transgo shift kit or a valve body from BTS or JW) to help keep your tranny alive (the TransCommand isn't enough on its own).
You won't get 120hp out of a chip without doing a bunch of supporting mods- big or medium oil, bigger injectors, and fuel system upgrades.
Could I keep the other banks stuff and just change the chip and tuner?
Sure, no reason why you'd have to get rid of all of it. Most of that stuff (turbo wheel, exhaust, bigger IC, TransCommand) are good upgrades to have anyways.
Could I keep the other banks stuff and just change the chip and tuner?
Yes you can, just make sure you are reading the trans temp and EGT temps on some kind of gauge. If the Banks has the pyro probe installed, it more then likely be on the down-pipe instead of the exhaust manifold or up-pipe. Let us know where the probe is installed.
