Fob doesn't work when its hot outside. Have 2 fobs and both behave the same . As soon as temp goes down , the fobs work again. Obviously its something to do with the truck itself. Any ideas ? Oh, 2001 F150 V6 2WD. Thanks
The Elf in your truck must be passing out due to the heat and can't press the unlock switch. But on the serious side do the locks respond to the lock/unlock switch mounted on the inside of the door? Do all the locks fail to work? Need to know to give an answer.
I had to replace my fobs, but it was due to the little plastic rings being broken. I ordered a pair from the guy selling at the link below. I'm not a spammer and have no vested interest in his business. But, I got excellent service from this seller. Also, programming them myself, really couldn't have been any easier.
Cowslinger, he posted that it doesn't work in hot temps, but when it cools down it works fine. Assuming that the key fob stays in his pocket, it'll usually be the same temp.
The GEM is the Generic Electronic Module that controls various electronics in the car including your powered locks.
If you do think it's the remote, open it up, clean the contacts with an eraser, and try that.
