Runnin like crap when it runs

Need some help my 78 ford with 300-6cyl been sitting for about 6 months went to start it up and was getting no spark so changed module, got spark back now was getting no fuel so cleaned carb(1 barrel)now have fuel but starts really hard but when it starts it runs really rough and has no power and wont idle, have changed cap and rotor and have double checked firing order numerous times plus have made sure that number 1 cylinder was at TDC The only thing i havent changed are the spark plugs have removed them and their black in color. Have even checked to see if all cylinders are firing with inline spark tester and they all appear to be firing. Sound like firing order is wrong when it starts but like i said before ive double checked numerous times. Any help would be appreciated Thanks

I would check for vacuum leaks at base of carb, and any capped off lines that may have cracked over time.

Plugs should be a light tannish color if carb is adjusted correctly and ignition system is working properly, are you burning oil? carb set too rich? wet plugs will be hard to fire.

Gonna put some new plugs in tomorrow and try it again have checked all vacuum lines and base gasket and have no sign of leaking. Like i said before runs very rough when runnin got to keep it runnin or it will die on its own,no idle Could a faulty module cause this. Truck has ran flawlessly for the past 4 years just get in it pump the gas twice and it would sit their and idle until the no spark ordeal started. What about distributor????

Have you checked the timing? Have you pulled the distributor?

You're wasting your time and money throwing on parts.

Since it sat for six months, it's most likely fuel delivery. Old gas will varnish and plug up stuff.

How exactly did you "clean" the carburetor? Spraying a can of carburetor cleaner at the fuel bowl and closing it back up is like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Your approach to automotive diagnosis is incorrect. There was obviously a significant drop in performance after servicing the fuel system, yet you instead replaced parts within the ignition system.

The key to working on engines is correlation. Change one thing at a time, and work on systems...well, systematically (one at a time). If you change one thing and it makes the situation worse, focus on what you changed, not other things.
