Hey guys I'm new here and still trying to learn all the different components that come into cars. I'm planing on buying Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD 5.8-Inch In-Dash Double-DIN and was wondering if this would have any trouble fitting in my truck. I have a 2000 F-150 and plan to get a friend to install the unit for me. Also is there any way to make the stereo theft resistant, so that it would make the unit very hard to uninstall. Thanks for the help.
The aftermarket double dins are slightly different than the OE, maybe a full 1/10 of an inch different. It can be easily fitted with a little work.
For theft resistance, there are most likely some threaded holes in the radio to ISO mount it. There is a strip that is similar to plumber's strap that is a little heavier, and is a really simple way to secure the radio to existing or new bolts in the dash. Making brackets isn't the easiest thing to do, so the strap is a quick and easy to use bolts to secure the radio.
