I have a 94 ranger super cab. and installed a new fuel filler neck. and all of a sudden cant feel up the tank fast for the gas hose to quit and start spilling gas out. the vents are fine in the back and the filler neck vent is ok to. any ideas?
there arent any kinks. i have already checked that. and even pulled the inner tube out to see if it was to small. and that wasnt the problem either. anymore ideas.
You said it won't fill fast, so it probably has a too sharp a bend in the hose. It doesn't have to be a kink to do that. The filler hose takes a few sharp turns to get to the tank and if the hose isn't exactly right it will not allow fast fill up. It may even look right, but it probably isn't.
either one. i had the little hose inside the big one and it wouldnt fill up fast. took it out and back in dozens of time. until it made me mad and i pulled the little hose out and just had the big hose. and it still wont let me fill up fast. and the hose is like 2 3/4".
The little hose is very important. It is how the air escapes from the tank when you are filling it up. There is a fitting inside the tank that the little hose fits into. You also need to make sure that the little hose is not kinked. Any obstruction in this hose will make it hard for you to fill the tank.
from what i seen. the little hose just sat in the hole that the big hose was hooked to and it wasnt hooked into anything just sittin in there.
...............As fuel is pumped to the engine , Air automatically flows back into the tank........thru the Little hose ; As you (Try) Too fill your tank at the gas station , Air is Pushed....OUT.....of the tank thru the .....little Hose ! This way , Atmospheric pressure inside and outside the tank are ALways equalized . , rb

The little hose is necessary. Reinstall it correctly and that should fix your slow fill up issue. Or just learn to live with slowly filling your tank. You don't smoke do you?
Rootbeer That is wrong! The little hose inside the larger diameter hose is the filler hose and the outer hose is the vent hose. Also the filler hose (small hose inside the vent hose) does connect to the filler assembly, where the gas nozzle is inserted. The filler hose extends "into the tank." The vent hose (outer hose) connects to the fitting on the tank via clamp. The filler hose is several inches longer than the vent hose in order to fit into the tank. Your problem is there is a kink or some kind or pinch in the "filler hose" (inner hose) which is restricting flow.
