Bad CPS?

Truck died and wouldn't start back up. Let it cool for 10 minutes and started back up. Ran for a little bit and died again. Had it towed home and changed the CPS. Got a new one from NAPA. Started right up and let it idle in drive way for 20 minutes and all good. Got on the freeway and started to hiccup and died again. Waited 10 minutes and started back up and made it almost home before it died again. After 10 minutes started back up and made it home. Called the local Ford dealer and got a Ford CPS. Gonna put that one in and drive it. Anything else to look for? We are going camping this weekend and I need my truck to tow our trailer.
In the past I have had numerous bad NAPA parts. So, that's why I went to Ford. I just replaced the CPS last year from Ford. What else should I look for?

Have pulled the codes? If you're getting codes, know what it is will go a long way in diagnosing the problem.

How's your fuel pressure? Have you checked/cleaned the fuel pressure regulator screen? What is the fuel filter condition?

From what I'm told, the new CPS (gray) will most likely only last about a year or so. I keep spares with me, just in case.

Well I changed the CPS out again. Took out the NAPA one and put in the one I got from the Ford dealer and seems to be fine. Time will tell. That's why I don't like NAPA parts. I have had quite a few bad parts in the past and won't buy from there anymore. I don't know what the fuel pressure is and i have not cleaned the screen. I'm not sure how to clean the screen. Suggestions would be nice.
Thanks

The Fpr screen is in a little 3/8" tube about 3/4" deep on the drivers side in side of the fuel filter bowl. The best way to make sure it truly clean is there are 2 10mm bolts that hold the FPR on the side of the filter housing take those outnad pull the FPR to the side removing the screened tube from the filter housing. Be careful not to lose the square oring from around the screen. You should be able to more easly see the screen on the FPR now and lightly brush off anything that may be obstructing it. Also depending on what year your truck is some have a small blck canister n the bottom of the FPR about the size of a 35mm film canister. IF you have one unscrew it and there is a nylon filter basket pull it off and clean it out carfully by tapping it or using compressed air so you dont crush it.

First off I would like to thank everyone who has posted about the CPS. I just recently got a F-250, and last Monday it did the symptoms of a bad CPS to the T. Replaced it and all is well now. I love this forum! Don't make the mistake that I and one other person I know of made. Make sure you pick up the bracket that is on the CPS's. I picked mine up alright, right in the driver's side front tire!

Thanks again everyone!
