ZF 5 speed question
What are the gear ratios of the tranny
Can I use my clutch of the M5OD are at least pressure plate and flywheel.
Is it a different clutch master cylinder or can you use the same one
Can I use the stock crossmember also.
Thanks for any help. Want to know what I'm facing before I try it. Thanks for any and all advice.

I had the unique opportunity to own both a '94 F150 with a 6 and M5 speed, and a '94 F250 351/ ZF 5speed. The final gearing seemed to be about the same. The major difference was the ZF had lower bottom end gearing for pulling.
Now here is my theory.
The 351 is a direct bolt in replacement for the 300, and since the ZF was available on the 351 it should be a direct bolt in swap for the Mazda. As long as the input shafts have the same splines, you should be able to use the stock equipment from the Mazda on the ZF. I would check this by going to a parts house and asking to see a clutch for each transmission and then comparing them.

The crossmember may need to be reworked. If you do not have access to a welder look for a crossmember from an AUTO tranny truck, it looks like a J and will work unless the fuel pump or filter is in the way.
The ZF uses a flange instead of a slipjoint so two things need to be considered. 1. A step joint for the driveshaft and 2.the slip joint needs to be addressed in the driveshaft.
You may need to modify the floorboard for the shifter.
If you buy a ZF make sure you get ALL of the ancillary items, complete shifter, boot, flange etc. If you buy a rebuilt they will cost an additional small fortune.
Good luck.

The u joint for the ZF is for a F250 not a F150 (usually). The step joint allows opposite sides of the u joiunt to fit two different sizes, meaning two sides fit a 250 (larger) and two fit a 150 (smaller). This is a specified u joint and the shop that works on the driveshaft can help you with this.
