Starter Question for 289
Hey guys,
I need a new starter for my 64 Falcon with a 5 bolt 289. The starter is the same one (I'm 99% sure) that I bought with the 289 twenty years ago. It was an automatic at the time. I swapped a stick into it and used the same starter. Now my starter is finally dying and I need a new one.
My question is do I need a certain starter for a certain flywheel tooth count? Or can I just by a mini starter made for a 157 tooth flywheel? Not sure on how many teeth my flywheel has, but it was off a 289. The bellhousing is a Mickey Thompson cast steel scattershield ahead of a Toploader.
